Sprinkling system for pigs
Effective cooling and improved animal welfare
At ACO FUNKI, we offer complete solutions for spraying systems in pig barns that ensure optimal temperature regulation and improve animal welfare. Our systems are designed to meet the latest legal requirements and industry recommendations.
Why is sprinkling important?
Pigs have limited ability to regulate their body temperature because they have very few sweat glands. Sprinkling helps cool the animals and prevents heat stress, which is crucial for their well-being and productivity.
ACO FUNKI’s sprinkling solutions:
Our sprinkling systems are tailored to different types of barns and specific needs. We offer:
Automatic control based on temperature and time
Durable and easy-to-maintain components
Option for integration with existing ventilation systems
We are ready to advise you on the best solution for your herd and ensure you meet current regulations and recommendations.
Legislation and recommendations:
Since March 1, 2025, it is a legal requirement in Denmark that sprinkling systems are not only installed but also actively used with appropriate duration and intervals. This applies to:
- Loose housing systems for gilts, dry and pregnant sows
- Pens for weaners over 20 kg
- Breeding and finishing pigs
Recommendations include:
- Use of flat-spray nozzles to minimize wind drift and scaling
- Placement of nozzles above the dunging area to cover one-third of the pen
- Sprinkling for 1–2 minutes at a time, depending on the temperature
- Increased frequency at higher outdoor temperatures
- Regular descaling and maintenance of nozzles
Proper use of sprinkling not only improves animal welfare but also reduces ammonia emissions and enhances barn hygiene.
