FarrowComfort | Farrowing pen for loose sows
Søren Michaelsen is in the process of expanding to accommodate 900 sows with a 30-kilo production. Part of the project includes a new farrowing unit for loose sows. The FarrowComfort farrowing pen has been chosen, where the trough and piglet nest are positioned towards the aisle. This design allows staff to easily check if the sow is eating while also making cleaning more convenient.
The piglets are also easy to inspect, and the choice of Inn-O-Corner provides a plastic lid that is lighter for staff to lift compared to fiber. The pen is spacious, making it easy to wean piglets and secure the sow when needed. Additionally, a BabyCare milk system has been installed to ensure all piglets receive adequate nutrition.

“If I had to choose a farrowing pen again, I would choose FarrowComfort. We wean many piglets – on average, half a piglet more than I the old farrowing pen. It is easy to inspect the piglets from the aisle, as we can check the troughs and feeders.”
Mating and gestation unit
In the gestation and mating unit, we have supplied 192 MAG boxes, boar door with handle, and Inn-O-Flex 40 equipment for large common pen and relief pens, among other uses.
Plenty of Space for Insemination
The MAG box is spacious, allowing sows to move freely, ensuring their well-being. Insemination is made easy, as staff can reach two sows from a single position. Learn more here
